Celery
Once upon a time I thought I was allergic to Celery. The symptoms had been hot itchy hands and feet which later turned into Hives. I thought I couldn’t consume celery anymore and I spent about 10 years avoiding it.
This past year I’ve been growing my own celery in my aquaponics systems. I decided to take a chance and check to see if I would have an allergic reaction to eating celery grown in my systems. Come to find out, it is probably not the celery I was allergic to but actually to something the large industrial commercial agriculture farms probably sprays on the celery crops that doesn’t simply wash off when it comes time for the consumer to prepare and eat it. I do not have an allergic reaction to eating the celery grown on my farm. I’m very careful about what gets sprayed anywhere around my farm since most sprays that get used on farms can be toxic to fish. I have to make sure that everything used on my farm is not only fish safe but safe for me to handle as well.
